post apocalyptic fiction , whats your favourite ? i like 28 days later and am well chuffed that they are making a sequel 28 weeks later.
also i like the zombie films especially the one where they are holed up in a shopping mall. i prefer the original to the remake though the remake was quite good.
at the moment i am looking for Omega Man with charlton heston in it as i heard that it was pretty good.
also another favourite of mine is mad max 2.
whats your favourite if any ?
I can't really see how they could make a sequel to "28 days later". It was good, but it got slightly tiring after a while.
I like Silent Hill (The game storyline though, not the film), however, nothing can beat "The Stand" by Stephen King. I literally didn't sleep for three days reading that book. It took me about 20 mins to read each page by the end, but it was worth it. Absolutely brilliant.
"Cell" is quite good, though remarkably similar, and the ending isn't as good.

I Am Legend by Richard Matheson was a pretty good read. It's about the last remaining human in a town where pretty much everybody in America have been turned into vampires.
don't understand wat u guys r talking about... ???
"post apocalyptic fiction" kinda says it all

I'm definitely going to look into I Am Legend, thanks for the recommendation, thejuice.
I'm currently reading the Walking Dead comics and World War Z by Max Brooks as I have a thing for zombies. I've also been watching Jericho religiously, and as far as zombie movies go I've seen a good number of them. I'd have to say my favorite was the original Day of the Dead.. it's pretty much awesome, heh. As for non-zombie movies, well, Mad Max takes the cake. Classic.
Not exactly fiction, but I've also been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lately, a PC game based loosely on the events at Chernobyl. Highly fictionalized, though.. I think it's actually based on the Russian film by the same name, which itself was (I believe) loosely based on a novel called Roadside Picnic which I keep meaning to pick up. The Silent Hill games are wonderfully creepy, though I don't know if I'd consider them post-apocalyptic.
For me On the Beach always was and always will be the standout
28 weeks later was rubbish compared to 28 days later. The dawn of the dead, day of the dead etc. were brilliant. But my guilty pleasure is Waterworld.

On the one hand I really enjoy this kind of fiction, and I really like the characters sometimes (people under extreme stress are just more interesting), but it also makes me feel uneasy. I loved 28 days later, but I could barely sleep afterwards - I always asked myself what would really happen in such a case and scientifically and psychologically I find that question rather interesting. 28 weeks later was rather lame.

Jericho was a nice series for me, although I prefer a little extreme like in Surface.
28 Days Later! Absolutely love the movie AND the score. Love, love, love it.
On the Beach always was and always will be the standout

The Omega Man was great. I AM Legend seems to be similar.

Jericho is great and 28days later ... ok - i'm not into zombies ^^
j g ballard's drowned world or clarke's childhoods end (although not strictly post-apocalyptic, great end of the world fiction)
